Conference Proceedings "Erinnern an Zwangsarbeit"

Content

The proceedings shall invite the reader to reflect upon potentials, challenges, and quality standards in building up an interview archive - from the interview conducting to the online presentation. In addition to scientific analysis, workshop reports of the interdisciplinary archive team and best-practice examples from other interview projects at home and abroad are being discussed.

In the first section ("Basics"), Constantin Goschler, Alexander von Plato, Peter Haber, Michele Barricelli, Martin Lücke and Jens-Christian Wagner examine elementary questions which define the theoretical framework and the situational context of the following articles. The second chapter ("Forced Labor 1939-1945") describes and reflects the complex process of creating the online archive. In the third section ("Interviews in Academia"), three research studies that are dealing with interviews of the online-archive as well as the current state of the art for automatic speech recognition in eyewitness interviews are being presented. The fourth chapter ("Interview Archives online") deals with numerous projects in Germany and abroad. The fifth section ("interviews in education") is dedicated to questions of historical learning with eyewitness testimonies. Different national and international training programs working with oral history interviews are introduced and reflected upon.
