February, 10: Presentation of new educational material at teachers' training

News from Jan 12, 2011

On February 10, 2011 Dr. Cord Pagenstecher presented the new educational material of the online archive "Forced Labor 1939-1945" at a teachers' training at Freie Universität Berlin. Target group: Teachers of all school types, 9th to 13th grade.

Accompanying the project "Forced Labor 1939-1945", the Freie Universitaet Berlin developed educational material “Video Testimonies for School Education". They were published in cooperation with the Federal Agency for Civic Education.

Video Testimonies for School Education: Video DVD – Learning Software – Teachers’ Book” support competence-oriented learning in the classroom, on class project days, and in exam presentations. In a video DVD, five survivors recount their experiences in camps and factories. Additional films provide background information about forced labor, indemnification and about the online-archive. The learning software provides additional tasks, maps, transcripts and photos, informational texts and tips on methods of use, as well as a timeline and lexicon. An accompanying teachers’ book assists in the preparation of teaching, providing informational texts, suggestions for tasks and worksheets.

The DVDs and teachers’ book are available at the Bundeszentrale für politische Bildung (Federal Agency for Civic Education).

In the seminar, DVDs, materials and working methods were presented, tested at the computer and discussed.
